Ceremony of Shipment of Disaster Relief Supplies Donated by Ningxia Hui Autonomous
Region of the People’s Republic of China to Punjab Province of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan
On September 28, ceremony of shipment of disaster relief supplies donated by Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China to Punjab Province of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is held and hosted by Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Mr. Moin ul Haque, Ambassador of Pakistan in China, Mr. Jiang Jiang, vice president of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Mr. Zhao Shiren, Consul General of Consulate-general of the People’s Republic of China in Lahore attended the ceremony online and delivered speeches. Mr. Xu Zhongyuan, deputy secretary of NXCC and responsible person from Foreign Affairs Office and Emergency Management Department of the People’s Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region also attended the ceremony.
Since middle June of this year, 1486 people were killed by the flood caused by seasonal rain in Pakistan. This unprecedented flood already affected over 33 million people and caused damage to house, vehicle, crop and livestock. The estimated loss is over 30 billion US dollars, of which Sindh and Balochistan are most affected regions. The Punjab province was affected by this flood as well and three regions of this province were hit by the flood.
After this unprecedented flood hit Pakistan, as friend province to Punjab province of Pakistan, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region took actions immediately and provided timely and effective assistance. Ultimately, 100 cotton tents and 10,000 quilts worth RMB 1.5 million and RMB 250,000 fund are raised. NXCC actively responded to the call of the Foreign Affairs Office of Ningxia Autonomous Region and donated RMB 50,000 to Punjab Province.
